(3 :i 3 HISTORY OF CHAS. TANNER FARM Chas. Worden Tanner was born March 9. 1877. He was married in 1901 in Hanover to Letitia Blake of the South Line. and he purchased Lot 33 in the 2nd Con. S.D.R. from Margaret Bonniman for $3900 and they started farming. In 1913 he purchased Lots #2 and #3 in the 2nd Con. S.D.R. containing 100 acres from Mr. George Lambertus for $5750. Mr. Lamberus had purchased the farm from Mr. Kunsenhauser in 1887 for $u600. Mr. Tanner carried on mixed farming and for many years piarted 1-H-“ . ibdot about 5 acres of potatoes. There was 12 acres of maple bush and they tapped 500 trees and had an evaporator to boil the ea; 1 syrup. The bush was frozen the cold winter of 1934, and that summer the trees were cut down. cut into logs and sold. The balance was out into wood. In 1921 Mr. Tanner tore down a small strawehed and built a larger one. making an L shaped barn. front field west of the lane near the road, and Jae. Mr. Tanner sold the farm in 1958 to Wilfred Weber of Garrick Township and in 1960 Mr. Weber sold to the present owncr, Wm. (Bud) Fritz. Mrs. Tanner passed away Sept. Hanover Cemetery. Mr. buried in Hanover Cemetery. William born Jan. 1. 1909 living retired near Walkerton; Worden born March 27. 1908 living retired in Waterloo, Ray Fichard born 1910. he farmed Lot 33. 2nd Con. S.D.R. until his death in 1966, he is buried in Walkerton Cemetery; Victor Charles burn in 1912. he was a banker and lived in London, he passed away in 1”Vl and is buried in Hanover Cemetery; George Wallace born June 3, 1017 farmed on South Line where Jack Fell now resides until his death in 1958. Sept. 13. he is buried in Hanover Cemetery; Clarence Edward born Sept. 16. 1919 farmed Lots h2 & #3 Con. 2, S.D.R. from lQHS until moving to Stratford in 1958. he passed away On March 2, 197% and is buried in Avon Cemetery in Stratford. 1955 and she is buried in the ll, 1969: and he in They had a family of six sons: 23.
