Ross was giving a lecture here to a literary Society and among his remarks he told his hearers that this corner was the "Hub of Ontario" and so for the time the corner was known as “ The Hub". Later a post ofï¬ce was formed there and the name “Hubrey†was given. However the post office is now at Wilton Grove. In 1892 at the World‘s Columbia Exposition held in Chicago, the Hubrey school had the distinction of carrying off the prize for a collection of freehand drawing and penmanship. The teacher was Miss Flora McColl and the school inspector who encouraged entering such an important exhibition was Dr. Deatness.
