MRS. HARTLEY FLEMING Mary Emma Fleming (Mrs. Hartley Fleming), was born February 23, 1879 on Amherst Island. Her parents were Nelson Instant and Joanna McDonald. She had 4 brothers, Roderick, Frederick, Reginald, and Ernest. Ernest was drowned at 31 years of age while crossing the ice to bring a doctor to the Island. Mrs. Fleming attended 5.5. #4 at Emerald on Amherst Island. She married Hartley Fleming on Jume 14, 1905 on Amherst Island in the Church of England. He was afarmer and a blacksmith by trade. The Hartley Flemings had one son, Ernest, and three grandchildren, Harry. Shirley and winnifred. They attended the Anglican Church. Mrs. FLemings interests were the Church Guild and the Womens' Institute. Her hobbies were sewing, knitting and music. Mrs. Fleming died the 5th of August in 1958.
