MRS. BEATRICE MCMASTER Mrs. McMasten born Beatrice Scott, was born in February of 1864, the daughter of Wm. and Matilda Scott. 'She was born on the Island and spent her life here. she married Wm. McMaster and farmed on the front road. They had one son, Raymond, born 1890. Mrs. McMaster was the first secretary--treasurer of Amher§:Island w.I. serving from November, 1900, to March, 1901, when she was forced to resign because of impaired hearing, and she was succeeded by Mrs. S. Tugwell. She remained a member of the W.I. for her lifetime and was also a devoted member of the United church and took an active part in community affairs. She died in June of 1952. . Dated -- 1992
