NEMORIAL QUILT This quilt was made by the ladies of the Presbyterian Church of Amherst Island. Mrs. Hogeboom, who now owns the quilt, believes it was used as a money raising projectx as people paid 25¢ to have a name embroidered on it. Names could be of the living or the dead, and a black cross was embroidered by the names of the dead. The pattern shows red squares arranged either horizontally, or in a diamond shape on a white background, with the names embroidered from the four sides of the diamond patches. The quilt is made in cotton. It was given as a gift to the Rev. J.K. Earl and his wife, Arlene, (nee Miller} on their departure from their Island charge. The quilt was made about 1938 -- 39. Dated, 1995
