LEelgtahe On Feb. 18, 1997, our branch held a community pot luck luncheon. The afternoon began with lighting the Anniversary candle and singing the W.l, Grace. Sixty people enjoyed a delicious lunch. The meeting opened in the usual way, followed with O Canada and a remembrance for departed members. The Centennial programme was followed with all members taking part Parts of the new Home and Country history book were read We closed with singing God Save the QUBen. We are an active branch with 25 members , of which 19 were present. Belgrave W.I. members dressed for the occasion } Mthhlnszx East Etatrtrt Fifty members and guests met at Crumlin United Church, Feb. 19, 1997 to celebrate 100 years of WI. accomplishments. The 3 branches , Crumlin, Thomdale and Wellbum planned the day . Wellbum President, Rae Blair welcomed everyone assisted by Linda Roe, Crumlin President who introduced the guests. Deputy Reeve Crispin Colvin of West Nissoui Township presented congratulatory plaques to the three branch presidents. The afternoon began with a bountiful pot luck dinner, with Anniversary cake and ice--cream. The Roll Call was to wear a hat or period costume and state the number of years as amember. Crumlin branch gave a mid-century fashion Show as well as a display of wedding gowns to the audience's delight. Members of Thomdale and Wellbum provided musical entertainment. The planned programme was used with members reading parts. A lively sing-song was also enjoyed, led by Agnes Worth. Marion Mainprize was congratulated for being a Centennial Award winner, A special collection was taken for the Headquarter's Fund ' The same three branches depicting Hometown Harvest Float. @rumlin :' i; a z a. On May 7, 1997, Crumlin W.I. met at Cmrnlin United church for their 100th Anniversary celebration and were joined by members of Reynold Creek. W.I. Everyone wore a hat from bygone years. The meeting followed the pre-set program and was followed by a buffet meal and Anniversary cake. A fashion show and reminiscences of the 1940's and 1950's followed Models displayed everything from an old woollen bathing suit to a garter belt and nylons, wedding fashions from 1929 to 1963 were also displayed. Marg Harris, president of F W10 was guest speaker and shared her experiences of her first year in ofi'ice. Members enjoyed a singsong and received greetings from members who could not attend. "Adelaide Hoodless' -- Katherine Gibson; Marg Harris, President of F.W.I.O; "Erland Lee" - Beth Wills flirt Birr Women's Institute held their Centennial meeting following the suggested programme. The lunch was reminiscent of the early 1900's, Apple cider was served in the afternoon with a toast to Adelaide Hoodless and Erland Lee. Members took part in the programme Township councillor Joan Robson, guest speaker, congratulated the branch and presented each member with a souvenir London Township pin. We thought it remarkable that during our meeting a 100 year old store was passing by the house, on its way to London Pioneer Village. We all rushed out to see it and took photos of this historic event. A collection was taken for the Headquarter's Fund. We were pleased to join W.I. members from all over Ontario in this Centermial meeting. Today our branch has 16 members. Birr W.I.
