finnnegal A special meeting was held on Feb. 19, 1997 at Donnegal United Cllumh t0 celebrate the founding of the Women's Institute 100 years ago. The full membership of 25 and 4 visitors enjoyed the luncheon of egg and ham sandwiches, cucumber pickles, tea . biscuits and jam for dessert. Following the meal the programme was held in the sanctuary which had been decorated in the Institute colours. Tables were decorated with blue candles and blue and yellow flowers for this festive occasion. Members attired in centennial dresses sewed a lunch that may have been served 100 years ago. Entertainment fortire afternoon was a Show of Fashions. Diane Bender, Adriene Noble and other members put together a show that delighted everyone. All kinds of beautiful and vintage clothes were modeled, such as suits, dresses, underwear and night clothes. Old pictures, lamps and articles were displayed invarious areas. Headquarter's Fund ifiiatufnel E52151 The members of Listowel East A Britton W.I.'s combined on Feb. 19, 1997 to celebrate the 100'h Anniversary at the home of Verna Coneybeare. The President opened the meeting with the Ode, collect and a poem entitled "Prayer". The proposed programme was used with the members taking part. Pianist Ethel Corry accompanied the singing of the Centennial Song Following the business meeting of each branch, the suggested menu was followed. The enjoyable afternoon ended with an hour of visiting Listowel East also celebrated their branch's 90th Anniversary on May 26 in Britten Hall with the District President, Secretary, Board member Winnie Mann and members of neighbouring branches as guests. The anniversary cake was cut by Lillian Cleland who has been a member for 72 years and also Branch and District Life Member.
