Sims Locks presented two displays at the District celebration on Feb. 19th. One showed 4H Leadership courses and Tweedsmuir history (5 volumes). A carload from our branch attended the Anniversary Tea at the Wilson Macdonald Memorial School Museum on Sun, June 8 and received a certificate from Mayor Rita Kalmbach, of Nanticoke. Members attended a Garden Party at the Erland Lee Home in June some volunteered with the registration for the FWIC Conference in June, We also attended the Garden Party in Gage Park, June 20 and Celebration Day at Hamilton Place. We bought a W.I. rose, which member Norma McClung nurtured to produce some bloom for centennial year. Our branch was organized in 1931. Cindy Young, Sims Locks led singsong on Feb. 19, 1997. Jean Bain, Caledonia at piano. Emmln Birth-int Lincoln District made aCentennial float for the Grape & Wine Parade in St Catharines. This float was also taken to Stoney Creek and Niagara-on-the--Lake Parades This float was made by many members at the home of Lena Byl, Virgil. Banner for Centennial float } fieamafiille Beamsville Women's Institute celebrated the 100th anniversary of WI at ' A" ' . " ' " _ . . . a special meeting on Feb. 19, 1997 following the suggested format. Local ' y. dignitaries, members of Parliament, Church leaders and service clubs were invited with approximately 30 people in attendance. Period costumes, candles and a menu typical of an afternoon tea in the late 1800's added to the atmosphere. Bells tolled at 2 pm. at each of the three Churches in town that have been used as meeting sites over the ninety two year history of the branch. STITUTE}: An informal lunch was served and members and guests were able to visit and peruse the volumes of Tweedsmuir history books on display. We prepared a skit for the District Annual. It was presented there and at the Erland Lee Home during June days called "the Birth of the Women's Institute". In November we presented the skit to the Lincoln History Club when they devoted their entire meeting to the Centennial celebration As a Centennial project our Branch has joined the Adopt-a- Road proj ect. 4 The "Beamsville Players" Angela Valli, Margaret Romagnoli, Dorothy Bunch, Barbara Stones, Swadesh Sachdeva, Eileen Tumbull, Patricia Watterworth. 353111?! Louth Women's Institute's Centennial project was a rose garden donated to the City of St. Catharines Our garden is planted with ten Adelaide Hoodless rose bushes and ten Centennial Rose bushes, in Montebello Park After two long years of planning, telephone conversations and correspondence, the project was brought to a happy conclusion on Oct. 18, 1997. Pictures were taken at the rose garden showing the roses and a bronze plaque with the explanation of the donation. Eleanor Lancaster gave a brief history of the Louth W.I. at the dedication Among those attending were Jerinne Porteous, District President, Jean Whitty, Louth President, Mabel Howard, chair of the Centennial Project Committee and members of Louth W.I.
