Emmett 311132121 Our 100ch Anniversary celebration was held as a Fashion Snow. Members donned old-fashioned gowns and traveled back to celebrate their history. This branch held its inaugural meeting at the Bowen Road school house in 1908 so now have a 90 year history of t their own. In June we climbed on a hay wagon and Bev Jewson pulled us with a John Deere tractor along the side roads ringing all sizes of cow bells, letting the folks know we were celebrating our W.I. birthday. The Ladies all went for a waIk through the Old Erie Beach Amusement Park. Our final celebration, planned by Bev Jewson was a Victorian Harvest Bamar. We had 3 Tea Room and sewed chilli, sandwiches and sweets, and had a display of dresses. It was written by one of our members who was 97 at the time and hadbeen an active vital member until very recently when ill health prevented her attendance at our regular meeting room ANNIVERSARY written by Elsie Moore, De Cew Falls W.I. (deceased in May 1993) A hundred years ago Our women 's Institute began Adelaide Hoodless and Erland Lee Met at his home in Stoney Creek And there devised a plan For our Women to meet Once a month throughout the year And as the different seasons appear A fitting program is made To enlighten our members and make them see That working together in harmony Brings happy results to your and me As we celebrate this anniversary May it be one of kindly deeds Supplying fiiends and members with their needs May we love our neighbours, kindness to them show That through the Institute we '11 let them know Our meetings begin with a hymn and Lord 's prayer It lets us know God is there At our District Annual each year with kindly words And flowers we remember those who have passed on We '11 never forget them although they are gone May all the activities of this year Be filled with happiness and cheer May we not forget that without the passing of Adelaide Hoodless 's dear son Our Women 's Institute would never have begun. We hosted two bus loads of Scottish W.I. ladies at luncheons in May and in September. After lunch, gifts were exchanged and we had a chance to view their display of crafts as well as our own They in turn hosted dinners at a local restaurant to thank their Canadian companions. Both days were most enjoyable. This was a joint event with five branches participating fitmforh Members of Stamford Women's Institute held a luncheon recently to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of WI. with 45 special guests, a group of Scottish W.Ir members who stopped in Niagara before heading on to Stoney Creek
