Downtown Hamilton B.I.A. Events The following schedule lists some of the Downtown Hamilton B.I.A.'s exciting events forthe period May to December 1989: 1. Photo Contest "Picture Perfect" o Initiated during our recent Mother's Day/Tray Race activities held in Gore Park on Saturday. May 13. ' , 0 Contest will run for seven weeks ending on Cana- da Day, July 1st. Submission deadline July 7. 9 To entice photographers to compete for prizes while producing a selection of photos to be used by the B.I.A. in producing a set of postcards ior down» ' town Hamilton. These are scheduled to be available . sometime in late August for the tall. 9 Two categories in the competition: (1) Architecture (buildings of interest in our area) (2) Activities (which is an action shot and could be taken at a Special event). 0 Prizes include: Publication of photo in postcard series. ' Camera bag (Lens & Shutter) Two $50 Gift Certilicates. PAGE 25 2. The Great Gore Park Spring Sidewalk Sale and Midnight Madness (June 22-24) 9 Dates lor the Sidewalk Sale: Thursday, June 22, Friday, June 23 and Saturday June 24 with Midnight Madness on June 23 from 9 am. to midnight. 9 Planned activities for this period will be an exciting window display contest by participating merchants with an opportunity to pick up some great prizes. The best window display will be picked by a panel of judges. ' g 9 Entertainment will be provided on Friday, June 23 in Gore Park throughout the Midnight Madness event as well as for the Saturday's Sidewalk Sale. 3. Canada Day Celebration/Country Music Jam- boree and the Kick-off ot the Annual Gore Park Summer Concert Series (July and August) The Canada celebration is an exciting event which will include three major events: 0 In front of the Royal Connaught Hotelz~A 122 foot long birthday cake to be set Up in the driveway of the hotel with a cake cutting ceremony hosted by Mayor Bob Morrow.
