Keith's chronicles In 1907, Andrew Walker moved to Rus- sell from a farm in Metcalfe and bought a lumber mill business. In 1908 he purchased 30 acres on the north border of the village which is now the housing development near Dunlop and Maple Street. After it had seIVed the needs of the peeple for a number of years, the bridge under construction in the lower left was a feed mill and on the right a planing mill and lumber yard. He had established a leasing agreement with the NYC Railway for a siding and the plan-- " ' ning mill was large enough to back a railroad car into and unload the lumber 'l'his was the largest business of its kind in the area. TheSe bridges were always known as Cochrafle'S Bridges to the locals.
