*0 Easter Seals campaign kicks off by Jan Carter Villager Staff RUSSELL -- The Easter Seals campaign kicked off Tuesday night at the Legion Hall as the Russell Lions Club began their 1991 fundraising efforts with a hot turkey dinner and good company. About 24 people attended the event designed to raise money and promote greater public awareness within the com- munity about the Easter Seals campaign for physically dis- abled children. The evening began with drinks, and the buffet-style din-- ner was served around 83m. The Legion provided the food and cooks who served a wonderful meal of turkey, many hot vegetables, a colorful salad, and fruit cocktail for dessert. After dimer guest speakers included Xavier Plaus, the father of this year's Russell Township "Tammy", seven year old .lalynn Plaus. Plaus and his family have lived in Russell for six years, and received aid from the Easter Seals Society when Jalynn needed transportation fees to physiotherapy sessions. The Lions Club of Russell raised the funds for the Easter Seals and were able to provide gasoline so that Jalynn and Patrick and Timmy Jackson from the Russell area could go to the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario in Ottawa twice a week for the sessions.
