Russell District Women's Institute marks seventieth year anniversary NAVAN - The Russell District Women 's Institute marked their seven- tieth year anniversary with a special iaward ceremony in recognition of Eiadies with over fifty years of member- ; ship. During the District Annual meet- ' ing held at St. Mary 's Anglican Church in Navan on May 27, eleven members were honored for their dedication Representing Cumberland Branch were Catherine Monette, who joined in 1944, Margaret Elliot, in 1943, and Kathleen Black. From Lenoard Branch was Eva Henry, who joined in 1948. Two ladies from Navan Branch, Mildred Wall and Betty Devy, joined in 1948 and 1952, respectively, From North Russell Branch were irene Paul and Margaret Burton. who joined in I952. Russell Branch was represented by Leila flvinanre. 1943. ,lnrence MC Caffrey and Georgie Gamble. On a sad note, Georgie. Gamble passed away on the night of May 28. "A wonderful friendship is just like a rose because it brings joy as it blossoms and grows," said Florence Mc Caffrey upon receiving the award. She acknowl- edged how much she had enjoyed her time spent as part of the Russell Women's Institute. Guest speaker. Christine Reaboum, Past _ President F.W,I.O., spoke about her experiences as President, noting that after traveling over 50,000 kilometers, it was a wonderful way to see the world and other women.
