Lord and Lady Tweedsmuir “FOR E\V()RD" I am so glad to hear that the \Voinen‘s Institutes of Ontario are going to compile Village history hooks. liyents moye very fast nowadays; houses are pulled down new roads are inadtx and the aspect of the countryside changes comâ€" pletely sometimes in a short time. It is a most useful and satisfying task for \Voinens Insti- tute members to see that nothing \‘aluahle is lost or lorgotten~ and women should he on the alert always to guard the traditions of their homes and to see that water colour sketches and prints; poems and prose legends should find their way into these hooks. The oldest people in the \‘illage will tell us fascinating stories of what they reineml)eiz which the younger memhers can write down, thus making a ln‘idge between them and eyents which happened before they were horn. After all. it is the history of humanity which is continually interesting to use and your yillage histories will he the basis ol accurate facts much valued by historians of the future. I am proud to think that you haye called them “The ’l‘weedsinuir Village Histories“. VJVritten by Lady rl‘weedsmuir.
