Records show we bought three yards of oilcloth, paid the sexton for his extra work, paid for the wood used, and W.I. members took turns assisting the nurses with these clinics. The Institute has always helped in every good cause. For many years it took on collecting for the C.N.I.B. in this area. In 1950 Rednersville W.I. began donating white gifts to the Children's Aid at Christmas time, and this has been continued since. A layette was given to a needy family, money donated to Consecon Children's Camp, donations made for years to Women's Hospital Auxiliary, Canadian Mental Health, the Nutrition Education Fund, anda donation made to the County Memorial Hospital Fund. In 1958 Rednersville started making an annual visit to the Prince Edward County Home for the Aged, putting on a programme and supplying the monthly birthday cake, gifts and lunch; this was continued until 1976. In:l961 Rednersville Decided to sponsor a child through the Canadian Save the Children plan. In March of 1962 a boy was allotted to us â€" Kwokâ€"yuen Lee in the New Territories, Hong Kong. At first the cost was $60.00 a year, increased to $84.00 annually in 1967 and to $120. a year in 1969. We continued to Sponsor Kwok-yuen Lee until the end of 1972 when he left school and went to work. In 1964 when government funds were allocated per capita for planning special centennial events the three local W.I.'s met with Ameliasburgh Township Council to persuade them to use our township allocation in the township, rather than towards a county plan in Picton. They agreed to our suggeation and thus it came about that an Ameliasburgh Centennial Committee was set up with the 3 W.I.'s represented and a township park was developed between the Townâ€" ship Hall and Roblin's Lake with a lighted ball diamond, tons of sand dumped along the shore and playground equipment puchased. As well many interesting and happy Centennial events were planned throughout the 1967 year. Rednersville W.I. bought 2 flowering crab trees which were planted in front of the Township Hall. Our W.I. bus trip to Expo '67 was our most ambitious and exciting trip. Rednersville W.I. has set up exhibits at Belleville Fair since 1955.
