Mrs. Stanton Fox Jane Ann Fox was born November 29th, 1862, on Lot 91, 1st Concession of Ameliasburgh, the daughter of William Lont and Adelaide Gibson Lent. She was the oldest of a family of three, with a younger sister Hattie (Mrs. Gilford Pearsall) and brother Willie Herbert (MacL She attended the school at Albury, 5.5.4 Ameliasburgh. She was married to William Stanton FOX on October 6th, 1880 at Smithfield by the Reverend Ash. They lived for seven years at Wooler, then moved to the Fox homestead on Lotjébfothhé Gore road between Concessions l and 2 in Ameliasburgh. The house they first occupied there was on the north side of the road across from the present barn. In 1897 they built a fine new home on the south side of the road east of the barn, the home where Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Green now live. They had one son, Morley Rae. Mrs. Fox joined Rednersville Women's Institute in 1909, in the year of its inception- She was a very active and enthusiastic W.I. member, always willing to open her home to meetings and to help in any way with the Institute work. She served as district director for three years, as an auditor for many years, and as president for two years, in 28â€"29 and 1929-30. She was very interested in the girls' work; in 1928 she held a two-day coaching class at her home, with Miss Florence Eadie coming as coach. She also served as district pl.esident in 193 and 3 . In 1936 she opened her home to a district W.I. rally, entertaining all the district branches and Quinte Institute. There were nearly 200 in attendance“ Mrs. Fox was also active at Area level, acting on one occasion as chairman of the banquet commitâ€" tee, for the Area Convention Banquet at the New Queen's Hotel. firs.
