1990 WOMEN'S INSTITUTE ARTS AND CRAFT FAIR our 7th Annual Arts and Craft Fair attracted a crowd of 4000 or more at the Community Centre in Picton. This year for the first time the Curling Rink was used - and all spaces filled. It was very hot in there even with the doors open, As usual Volunteers went the day before to set up the tables for the vendors. The event was held on Thursday, August 2, 1990. Edith Cairns, Marlene Corfield, Daisy Wannamaker, one of Marlene‘s sons, a visitor from England, and Evelyn Price's son helped to set up the tables the day before the show‘) Some Of our members also stayed to take down the tables after the show was over. As in the previous year, we shared the meal expenses and help with Mountain View W.I. and that proves to be a satisfactory way of helping both WI's as our members who can volunteer for various jobs are being depleted. gull kinds of crafts are for sale, with vendors coming from Kingston, Barrie, Wingham, Niagara, Ottawa as well as our local people from Marmara, Belleville, Wellington and Picton. The outstanding success of these shows is evident as many of the vendors book space for the next year before they leave for home. Mary Lou Norton was Public Relations director and the show and other pertinent information was well advertised which she felt contributed to its success again in 1990. Our share of the proceeds for this event was $526,143 Camp Trillium at West Lake Prince Edward County Memorial, Trenton, and Belleville Glenwood Cemetery - Picton General Hospitals Building Funds Toy Lending Library for pre schools Two students to Terry Fox Centre â€" Ottawa daycare and libraries were the beneficiaries of funds raised at the Annual Craft Fair
