Prince Edward District now has an Education Committee Portfolio comprising of members of May 31, 1995 - June la, 1995 october 1,1995 various Institutes in the county. Mrs. Louise Humphrey, of Hillier Branch, organized a WorkshOp on "How to Promote Your W.I." This meeting ran from 9: 30 am to 3 in the afternoon, and our group was responsible for providing the beverages that day. It was well attended and was held at Ameliasburgh Townsnip Hall Public Relations Cfficer and Program Coâ€"ordinators were encouraged to attend. Evelyn Peck, President, gave a 3 minute talk on her display for this meeting. Demorestville Church Hall was the scene of our District Annual for 1995. H' display â€How he Communicate†centered around our logo, on hats, sweat shirts, printed material, our publications â€" eg. Home and Country, note paper, brochures, and by word of mouth ie : telephone. Evelyn Peck, President, set up the display shown below, and along with Linda Dulmage, did something similar for the Quinte Ex â€" August 30 â€" Sept. 1», 1995 for which we 3 ¢ . . . . â€" Treiigi ugnegioo u? to be a most memorable day for Institute members Within a good driv1ng distance of Milton, Ontario, the site of the Ontario Agricultural Museum. We Spoke to some from North Bay, eastern Ontario, western Ontario. Husbands, family members, were included in the invitation which came to our branches way back in the fall of l99h. some 1.000 people came that day, and were royally treated on entering the grounds by a nice cup of coffee and a muffin, plus a warm smile from the volunteers of nearby tells who could manage tne jo‘o. Everything was highly organized for the whole day's events, and you could wander at leisure during the day, or else take the horse dram vehicle if walking was a problem. Each person received a WI mug with a lid on entering the grounds. The day was warm and sunny, we left Consecon at 6 am, others from Rednersville caught their bus at Quinta Mall and after a 3+ hr. drive we arrived in fine form, ready to face the day. Our $18.00 ticket included a served lunch of BBcued Turkey, salad, roll, strawberry Shortcake, tea, coffee or juice. This was a sit down affair, and you were glad to do just that. We had 3 sittingsto accommodate the crowd, and while waiting in line, you could take time to talk to your neighbour. The whole atmOSphere that day was one of friendliness which we associate with til. The cost of the bus tnat day was $20.00. All the buildings were open. Perhaps the central focus was the Gambrel Barn right at the entrance which featured the most varied Quilt Show. The winning quilt would be announced later that afternoon. The quality of the work and the skill and design of each quilt was something to behold. They were surely works of art. You could vote for your No. 1 choice. A WI member wearing a‘ Centennial T Shirt and a red scarf would direct you wherever you needed to go. This event is a kickoff for the 1997 celebration which will mark the 100 years of WI. Eany more such happenings will occur between now and then. The 1997 gathering is planned for Hamilton, Ont. close to Stoney Creek where it all began in 1897. As a matter of interest - it took the following to prepare the food for the luncheon: % ton potatoes for the salad, 36 heads of lettuce, 3626 biscuits made by 2 members, a ton turkey breasts, 360 flats of strawberries, 30,000 oz. juice Our members who attended this day: Mabel Onderdonk, Frances Young, Marion Townsend, Florence Waterhouse, Edith Cairns, Jean Vanclief, Marjorie Bedford, Eveylyn Peck, Fay Wetherall, Evelyn Price, Margaret Vandervelde, Margaret Durrant, and Daisy Wannamaker, Marlene Corfield. â€"0ur day for selling pie and coffee a: Amelia s'ourgh fell on a Sunday this year. We were fortunate in selling everything we had and realizing an amount of $366.10 Because funds are needed at two levels: l. The Headquarters Fund, and 2.
