They have done much, everywhere in the Dominion, to help health conditions in the schools. They have put in paper drinking cups and sanitary towels, promoted medical inspection, and in some sections secured the school nurse. In the way of community work, it will be an endless piece of work to check up on all that has been done in service of this kind. Almost every village and town can boast of something the VVomen’s Institute has done or helped to do in the way of parks, tennis courts, Community halls, pianos, memorialsof various kinds; helping families who have lost their homes by fire, giving flowers to the sick, Cleaning up cemeteries, organizing literary clubs, and many many other things. We get out of life just what we put into it, In one of our districts the president is editing a monthly report of all that is being done in the district and sending it to each branch, thus the interest among the \Vomen’s Institute members never lessens. Elgin County had a winter picnic where men, women, boys and girls had a most enjoyable time. Citizenship. Yes, since we have become real citizens with a vote, we are working at it. A preacher once asked a little boy if his father was a Christian. “Yes,” replied the little boy, “but he isn’t working at it now.” But we are. We often get a “knock” for our efforts, that makes us fly to the shelter and protection of the home, as the home is clearer to us than any place on earth. ‘ Then we remember the words of the late Theodore Roosevelt, ”If we want this world to be a safe place to live in, we must all do our part to make it a safe place to live in.” It is often said women are out after men’s positions. That is not right. But I do say to-day women have stamped a value upon themselves. If they are more efficient in something than men, why should they not do that thing? You must think out the most of this for yourselvesiwhat all these things mean to you and what you count for as a citizen. There are many other things we could check up. Perhaps most important of all are our girls. We are proud ' of the work they are doing to help others. We have a number of literary clubs in connection with VVornen’s Institutes where both boys and girls carry on and do excellent work in developing talents and helping the shy ones to discard fear and have courage to do their part. For very soon our boys and girls will fill the places we now fill. Like the men of old, we want these to be prepared to be leaders whom people will follow. Let us not be out to do some big thing or nothing. It is the little things that count. A snowflake is very small, yet many of them banked together hold up a monster locomotive. Every day we can plant some seeds for good. We cannot see them grow, even if we watch every moment, but perhaps some day a beautiful flower will bloom and our planting will not have been in vain.
