(Laura Green photo) ROSE session on Cancer By LAURA GREEN For The Ingersoll Times Cancer (Breast, Cervical, Ovarian and Prostate) was the theme of a recent R.O.S.E. -- Rural Ontario Sharing Education program. The session at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church recently was hosted by Oxford District Women's Institute in partner- ship with Oxford County Public Health, the Oxford Branch of the Canadian Cancer Society and Breast Health Oxford-- Zonta Club of Woodstock The Federated Women's Institutes of Ontario who have partnered with many health organizations to promote education in rural Ontario in the area of health started the BOSE. program. Information was given on cancer prevention, early detection and support by the panel presentation, commu- nity agency displays and resource staff. Members of panel presen- tation were Judy DeBoeck - Oxford County Board of Health spoke on cervical can- cer and stress the importance l of the pap test, Laura Horton of the Oxford Branch of the Canadian Cancer Society spoke on prostate cancer and also stress early detection, Sheila Densham--Ontario Breast screening program stressed the importance of having a mammogram starting at the age of 50, Sandy Greason, breast cancer survivor told of her 2003 journey and she felt that having a mentor was very important, Carol lnnes -- moderator gave some information of ovarian can- cer.
