I Carol Innes grew up as a city kid -- Toronto and received her university education at MacDonald Institute, Guelph. She graduated in1965, the ?rst year of graduates from the University of Guelph. The three colleges: Ontario Agricultural College, MacDonald Institute and Ontario Veterinary College became the University of Guelph in May 1964. After her term as home economist, she attended teacher's college in Toronto. She taught Home Economics at Woodstock Collegiate Institute from September 1969 to June 73. The next year, she taught and set up the home economics program at Zorra Highland Park School, Embro. After her marriage, Carol focused on raising their family of 4 daughters and a son and working on their dairy farm. She retired from chores, when their son Matthew joined the farming operation in 2004. She now has three granddaughters to decorate cupcakes with! Carol Innes, in her spare time, is an avid scrap booker and has over 300 new pictures taken at the Associated Country Women of the World 26th Triennial Conference "Women World Wide ---- The Voice of Today", which was held in Hot Springs, Arkansas. . Carol enjoys learning new life skills, learning how to protect and respect the environment, exploring the outdoors, and giving service in her community. Besides her involvement with work of women's institute, Carol was a unit Guider with 1St Embro Guides and a District commission for Girl Guides of Canada. She is actively involved in programs at her church in Stratford. Carol will be working with the board of directors on their strategic plan which can be. found on the fwio.on.ca website. She encourages each branch "to continue working on their membership, partnering with other community groups and advocacy to better your community". On Sunday May 2nd, 2010 Oxford District Women's Institute hosted a reception to congratulate their ?rst member from the district to become Provincial president. It was held at St. Andrew's United Church in Brooksdale, where Carol's branch holds most of their meetings. Sheila Greason, president of the Oxford district chaired the event. Congratulatory remarks were given by M.P.P. Ernie Hardeman, Warden Paul Holbrough, Mayor of Zorra Margaret Lupton who is also a member of Brooksdale W.I. and Peg
