Twenty-five years ago in the month of May, stu- dents and staff of Zorra High-- land Park School staged this musical. Yes, there were cast mem- - bers whose parents partici- pated in the 1971 musical. Parents had fun reminiscing their 'roles played in "Oliver", the costumes worn and the fun that they had. ' The well-rehearsed produc-- tion had no blunders except for the malfunctioning starter pistol used by well-dressed man playedby MichaelJensen, who killed the villain Bill ' Sykes,'play'ed by David Green. Students from Grade 3 -810~ tally enjoyed being a part of "Oliver"-no matter how small the part may have been. School routines should be backto nor- mal by the beginning of the week. The Matheson family will be glad to have their mom--- Marlene home forlunch again. Marlene who was the pianist spent the past three months practising with the cast during the noon hours. Lucky for Marlene that she lives only a few minutes away from the school. The musical "Oliver" is com-- ing to stage at the Zorra High- land Park School May 8 and 9 at 8 pm. The production in-- volves approximately 125 tal- ent students from Grades 3 to 8. Another 20 students will use their skills working offstage. Oliver will be played by Grade 6 student Danny Fraser. I Fraser has had lots of experi- ence singing in front of large audiences like the fans at a Blue Jay game. He belongs to the St. Marys' Children's Choir and is in his' second year. Prior to this choir, he sang for the Stratford Boys' Choir. Fraser also sings in the Knox United Church Junior Choir and participates in the Wood- stock Rotary Festival of Mu- sic. He practises his music while helping his dad Kevin on the family's dairy farm north of Embro. Rain held off long enough By LAURA GREEN The rain held offlong enough for the Embro volunteers of the Oxford County Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society to sell their beautiful camations for Mother's Day oniFriday morning. Over 160 mini-bouquets and 375 single blooms were pur- chased at presales and street sales. The money raised from the carnation sales campaign is used to help ?nance medical research and services for the chapter's clients andtheirfami- lies. , These services include sup- port groups and buying the necessary equipment to make the lives of the chapter's cli~ ents easier.
