There was a building on the town hall parking lot which housed a church. Across the street on the northeast corner of Spring and County Rd. 25, where Graham Norcutt lives was the Orient Hotel. Inside there are still vestiges of what it once was. In the horse and buggy days it was a busy place, complete with a bar and spittoons. In another corner of the main floor a bank operated, The two-storey building which sat north of the hotel on County Rd. 22 (Percy Street) no longer exists. Ted Quinn used to wax turnips in it and it burnt down when the wax pot caught fire. It was rebuilt as a house and was used as the Castleton Post Office for 30 years.
