Sunday, 27 February 2011 00:33 Earlier this year the Apple Blossom Tyme Festival committee decided it could no . longer continue to run the annual May festival in Colborne. It was in the black, but its membership had shrunk and no one had come forward to take the lead. The matter was discussed at Cramahe Council, with Mayor Marc Coombs and councillors Pat Westrope and Clinton Breau expressing interest in keeping it going, The three were elected at the Apple Blossom Tyme Annual General Meeting on February 24, along with Carl Wilce, Cheryl Casselman and Pat Johnston (past chair) to run the 2011 weekend activities. Lenna Broatch will continue as bookkeeper but will not maintain her board position. It was clear at the AGM that the trio of newcomers were not representing the township. They are volunteering their time, along with other board members and various non-board contributors. "a“ - - "w "rt, , I â€EEK 'ilrNrlilthe ' " - ' . Mr. Breau seems to have studied the weekend from start to finish and made 7 numerous suggestions to improve the weekend, The midway will sit on King Street this year, not on the parking lot beside the CIBC. Mr, Breau hopes Gable Bros. will locate a Ferris wheel as the centrepiece. Mr. Breau asked if the festival needed to be two days long.
