The money was part of the proceeds from the 2013 Chris Garrett Memorial Golf Tournament. Garrett, a CqbourgsPn]iCe constable, was killed in the line of duty in 2004, and the annual tournament provides various local charities and groups with funds to assist them in carrying on their good community works. The Back Packs for Kids Program began in 2005 and since its inception, has provided back packs stuffed with school supplies to more than 10,000 students § in Northumberland: "We really appreciate all the support i:rovided to us over the years by the Cobourg Police Service," Kay states in a press release. "Together with our community partners, we are pleased to be able to help Northumberland students head off to school each fall with all the necessities to do well.
