Harold and Doris had a family of seven sons and one daughter. The Gibson farm was sold in 1963 to John Fairborne, who later sold to Mr. Benjamin Scott. The lakeshore property was then divided into tourist lots. Harold and Doris built a large new home in Dunchurch after leaving the farm. Harold worked at construction for a number of years and is presently employed by the West Parry Sound School Board. The children have left home to live in Minden, Scarborough, Penetang and Petawawa. One son has his home in Dunchurch and one son is still living at home. Harold and Doris have always taken an active part in organizaâ€" tions and clubs to help benefit the Community as a whole. Harold Gibson has an impressive list of activities both in Education and Community Service fields. Harold was a member of the Hagerman School Board for nineteen years and was Chairman for seven. He was a member of the present Board for three years. He served on the Hagerman Council for three years. For thirty years Harold worked for the Dunchurch Agricultural Society and for ten of those years he served as President. As a founding Director of the South River Cattle Sale, Harold, Frank, Rick and Ciliff Longhurst were chosen to pick the site for future cattle sales in this area; South River was chosen as the most suitable site in 1953. | Harold was also a member of the Parry Sound Crop Improveâ€" ment Association for a number of years and was a leader for several years of the 4H Junior Potato and Calf Clubs. In 1972 the Dunchurch Lions Cilub was Chartered. Harold rose in the ranks of this club from President to Zone Chairman, to Deputy District Governor and in the year 1979â€"80 was elected as District Goverâ€" nor; representing fifty Lions Clubs in District A5 for International Lions Club, Oak Brook, Illinois, U.S.A. He is now an active memâ€" ber of the Dunchurch Lions Club. Harold is a square dance caller. He is presently employed by the West Parry Sound School Board as Maintenance Foreman. December ‘81. 8
