- 7"_‘_ t [ STEAMER ONTARIO: Not many will remember the little steamer Ontario on the Muskoka Lakes. This picture is from Port Carling W.I. Tweedsmuir History. In the 1915 directory of the Muskoka Lakes, issued by Captain John Rogers, Port Sandfield, the Ontario is listed as being owned by J. MoDermott, ofPort Carling. A note with this picture of a group of hunters in the late and snowy fall of a long ago year says the man on the bow deck is R. C. Harris and at the extreme left was Billy Harris. The owner of the boat, which was used for towing booms of logs to the sawmills, was John McDermott, who was the first Reeve of the Village of Port Carling in 1896, _ â€Lise-9.
