_ HIGHLIGHT CF THE MEETINGS OF SHIRLEY WOMEN'S INSTITUTE Announcement Notice. as taken from the Port Perry Star and Standard. SHIRLEY WOMEN'S INSTITUTE . Mrs. S. L. Brown of Whitby, President of the South Ontario Women's Institute will address the ladies of the surrounding comunity at the home of hrs. Allen Moore "Glenerin" Shirley on Fri. Oct. 21, 1910. The object of the meeting is to organize a branch Institute at Shirley. All interested in the Women's Institute are cordially invited to attend. SHIRLEY WOMEN'S INSTITUTE A good attendance of the ladies of the neighbourhood assembled at "Glenerin" the home of Hrs. Allen Moore as previously announced to hear Mrs S L Brown of Whitby. She began by stating that she was no speaker . but she easily accomplished a very bright speech and it served the purpose admirably, for the most of those present became members and a full executive was appointed. Perhaps all are not aware that these Institutes are recognized by the Government which shows its approval by a money grant to properly equipped organizations. The work attempted is many sided taking up all the phases of Domestic Science and everything pertaining to the health and welfare of' the family. Our Institute is at present contemplating the formation of a Cooperative Egg Circle under the direction of Fir. Hare of Whitby who has already formed a large circle in North Ont. and is to give an address at Shirley in the near future of which further notice will be givenmhen the exact date is known. TheNorth Ontario Circle is very successful. Its members receiving from two to four cents a dozen above outsiders. Every lady be sure to come to hear Mr. Here's address. All the housewives of Nest Durham and South Eastern Ontario who are interested in the work are cordially invited to join us. All come and bring a quarter with you to pay membership fee and you will receive numerous bulletins from the Department of Agriculture that are very helpful to you. In the absence of the Resident who is ill and of the lat vice Pres. Mrs Jno '.r Byers 2nd vice President took the chair and conducted the meeting ina very able and satisfactory V manner. As our members would only get the new bulletins as they were published, it was decided to send y', for-some of the more desirable ones of a late date for the benefit of the members. There are so many u subjects dealt with by the Department that are most helpful to the readerfrom the best varieties of :7 fruit to be planted in the orchard to the‘1care of childrens teeth. Word has been received from the "i' District Sec, as to the date of Mr. Hare's address in regard to the Cooperative Egg Circle. Mr. Hare is a practical Institute speaker and knows his subject thoroughly, so everyone come, man or women E whether beleiving in a Egg Circle or not should give Mr. Hare the justice of a hearing. He may give $1: some pointers on how to get more eggs as well as a better price. A circle will not be formed unless T» everything is satisfactory.
