AN INTRODUCTICN To FARM His TORE S On the following pages are historics of some of the oldest farms in the Township. Questionnaires were sent to early residents who could be reached who were shown on the tax rolls up to 1919. The Township records were destroyed in a fire in 1916, and, tuerefore, no records are available before that date. As the completed questionnaires are returned, the histories will be recorded in this book. Over the years The International Nickel Company of Camda, Limited, has purchased several of the propertics in the Township; e.g. John Salo, Ernest Kallio, John Harju, Edwin Salo, Fabian Makela, Oscar Kulmala and John Maenpaa. Most of these early farmers have either passed away or moved out of the Township, and we lave been unable to pursue the histories of these farms to any great extent. |
