| 3 ‘ WEST VICTORIA DISTRICT â€" wWOMEN‘S INSTITUTE West Victoria Women‘s Institute was formed March 24, 1903â€"just six ' years and one month after the first Institute was formed by the eff orts of Founder Adelaide Hoodless in Stoney CGreek, Ontario. According to their records Woodville was one of the first branches to organize in 1903. Our minutes for those years have béen lost but we have records that Mrs. Albert Parliament, Mrs Richard Howkins and Mrs. Hector Grant were Presidents and Miss Annie (Toot) Campbell and her sister Miss Helen Campbell were secretary and treasurer. Many of these continued to work actively in W.I. formany years. In 1983 West Victoria celebrated eighty years of W.I. activity. All past officers were invited and given recognition. ~ Mrs, Olive McDonald Of ouw Wooville Branch is second vice pre sident of the branch. Nov,, 1983 The district held a card party in Ops Community Centre. Nearly . every W.I. was well represented. The men were invited ,too . The fund were considerably increased by this event. ©
