' f, The province wide interlibrary loan system has gone through many changes and is now a web based system. Boards are encouraged to submit records ever year to be included, so libraries can be a full partner in this system. SOLS workshops were held so staff could learn how to use the new software. Staff search the system and order titles. The responding library will forward the item. The receiving library will contact patron, make renewals and return items. If a item was received by mail, the Canada Post website would have been access to get postage rate and mailing rates. Now patrons can search the database direct and submit the order to library staff. In 2004, Cramahe Council gave the Board money to purchase the Winnebago Spectrium Suite, cataloging and circulation software for Castleton branch. It was a big job cataloguing all the titles and a number of volunteers did this work. The circulation section keeps track of items on loan, reserves, fines, returns and fines paid. Over the years, open houses, displays and October was the month where patrons overdue fines were waived. Grants have been received from the Ministry of Culture, Castleton branch, for literacy $10,500.00 and $9,000.00 for purchases of books, equipment, etc. whatever was needed for the branch. In 2008 another grant has been announced. At the time the branch closed, these funds have not been used, Libraries are expanding to include more services to the public. The conference room is used by community organizations when needed, Rebound Youth Services offers free tutoring and Carolyn Prentice ran a summer story hour in 2007. For a few years, Heritage Cramahe used a room for displays. The Lakeshore Genealogical Society maintains a database of cemetery records and provides and updates records on the public computers. Aservice for shut-ins was started as some patrons were having hard time climbing the stairs.
