x ns _ ‘ And we bring the family fliver; > Four or five in every seat. © Beachburg‘s still the place of meeting, sisters Like the generation past, ‘District annuals are gold milestones, . ©Each one better than the last. | Chorus â€" ' We are pleased to be coâ€"workers, ladies | In this year of jubilee And we hope we‘ll all be members When we reach the century. ‘ This report would not be complete without mentioning a , Variety Concert staged by the District Institute in 1946 in the Memorial Hall, Cobden. The various branches provided the proâ€" C gramme. People came from far and near and it was truly a successful entertainment. . A very worthwhile resolution was sponsored by Mrs. Stanley â€" Hunt that a portrait of Mrs. Adelaide Hoodlass be placed in the Archives, Ottawa. Action has already been taken and the porâ€" * trait will be unveiled May 8th, 1950. Two other important honours coming to North Renfrew, was the Chairmanship of the Area Convention, Ottawa, by Mrs, Wesley Berry, Cobden, in the years 1947 and 1948 and that Mrs. B. A. Fray, Pembroke took part in the pageant at Guelph at 50th anniversary 1947,. These are but a few of the signposts as we travelled along ‘ the District Institute Highway. Every mile brought encourageâ€" ment and enthusiasm from the branches to the District. Our District Annuals are eagerly looked forward to by each member, where we rub shoulders with sister members. Looking back over these minutes we find women status raiséd because we have developed in leadership and we have taken the guesswork out of homemaking, giving each one the ability to express themselves before an audience when called upon to do so. So let‘s Live and Love and Learn together as we throw out this challenge, the theme of our 50th anniversary. Hats off to the Past, Coats off to the Future. * Mrs. Albert Burgess, Secy _ Mrs. Leslie Davis, Pres.
