In 2000 high speed internet was made available to 90% of all NRTCO customers. The company name was changed to NRTCO communications in 2003. In 2004 a five bay garage was built in LaPasse. The company also started a security system that year. In 2005 wireless internet was started in the Cobden and Forester‘s Falls areas, and and also extended to Pembroke area in 2006. a three hundred foot tower was built on Wilson Road to expand wireless internet service. 2006 Fibre was placed across the Ottawa River to LaPasse to connect to Ottawa. Bell Canada in Pembroke became the enabler for NRTCO Communications to be a competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC). 2007 A fibre agreement was signed with Cogeco. Fibre cable was installed to Petawawa. 2009 Fibre is installed to Cobden and in 2010 direct to home fibre was made available. NRTCO Communications celebrated a century of communication in 2011, from telephone, to internet service to security systems. Many independent telephone companies have ceased to exist through the years. North Renfrew Telephone Communications is one of the eighteen independent companies remaining in Eastern Ontario.
