A birthday party was planned _ an open house, supper neighbours relatives and members of the Kelly family gathered at the house to view the restoration that the Leckeys have accomplished over the past 25 years since they purchased the old Kelly Farm. The open stairway, the fieldstone fireplace boasting a cazy blaze to warm the chilly evening and the tastefully dcocrated rooms all showed the expertise and hard work of Molly and Bud. The Kellys and the McKagues reminisced on the old times and the devilmem they got into as children. Memories came to mind ufthe lonely life led by Mrs, Kelly before she was enticed to Gai by the present owners Dr. and Mrs. Robert Lackey to prove "rn.,overonehundred trs relatives and vy the was Marvin and Dave McComb called for the squares. Another lunch and coffee at midnight saw the neighbours leaving one ofthe greatest house birthday parties on record for the Mt. Pleasant Community between Castleton and Morganston. A big vote of thanks to the Lackey family from your guests. The Mundells, a snappy- looking family country band consisting of three young folks and their mom and dad took the platform. The young folks tafiped, stepped, played their violins and sang together, Ten year old Danny put on a dance show. They then played for squares, schotlische, polkas and rounds featuring the two boys on the fiddles, and Mom singing and Dad on backup. After supper, Dr. Leakey or "Bud" as we know him, went to the platform. He introduced his family - his wife, Muriel (Molly) and family of Griff, Rob, and Jane, along with Hamish the Scottie who performed for bis supper. A special welcome was given to members of the Kelly family. Bud thanked his neighbours, the McKagues, Benedettis, and McCombs, joking about his naive attempts . at farming and how these neighbours helped him out ofhis dilemmas. rwalls.
