Browns WI charity euchre luncheon April 19 Brown‘s Women‘s Institute Euchre held Thursday March 27 had the following winners: Men‘ High, Terry Barber; Men‘s Citizenship â€"Sheila Greason presented by Coun. Mary Luna. Someone once said, "Volunteers do not necessarily have the time, they just have the heart." These words couldn‘t be more true when applied to our next honouree, Sheila Greason. Sheila is being honoured for volunteer achievement in the citizenship category, which recognizes volunteers whose actions have assisted those in need. There are few people in St. Marys who have not been touched by Sheila‘s volunteerism and I couldn‘t begin to list all of the ways in which Sheila has given back to this community. Sheila is a retired school teacher who takes a special interest in youth and children‘s activities. Sheila was President of the St. Marys Fair Board for many years and worked tirelessly t,o see this community event a successful one. Sheila is also involved in the Oxford County Womeq s Institute and is a leader at the United Church and represents them at the Oxford Presbytery. Sheila also finds time to serve as the chair of the triâ€"county food grains growing project which raises funds to purchase food for those in need, and the Order of the Easter Star #121 counts Sheila as a membt‘ar:’ The East Nissouri Union Church honours Sheila by presenting the "Sheila Greason Scholarship award, which is a testament to the impact Sheila has had on her community. Sheila is one of the principle organizers of the local Heart and Stroke Campaign and in 2007 she won a provmma'l avyard for her work with the Heart and Stroke foundation. Sheila volunteers with many other ?rganlzatlons and events in St. Marys and is truly tireless in her efforts. 1 began by mentioning Sr)ella s heart and | think it fitting to end on this same note. What makes Sheila a remarkable volunteer is not the amount of volunteerism she does, although that is truly impressive, but the integrity and generosity she _bnngs to her work. Sheila has a big heart and the people of St. Marys have beneï¬teq f_rom her commitment to helping others. Please help me in recognizing Sheila Greason, the recipient of the volunteer achievement award in the field of citizenship.
