Voting delegate reported on board happenings and board members for southern region, Barbara Anne Temple and Hene Chesterman, reminded members of upcoming events at the provincial level. There were 159 members registered for the day, which was filled with fun, renewed friendships, food, busiâ€" ness and educational presentaâ€" tions. The program began with the presentation of the flags folâ€" lowed by the singing of O Canada. Elgin district president, Grace Campbell, welcomed everyone. Brown‘s WI Euchre Party The Brown‘s Women‘s Institute Euchre Party took place Oct. 9. The winners were: Ladies‘ High. Doris Champian; Ladies‘ Lone Hand, Carol Herbert; Ladies‘ Low, Alice Pound; Ladies‘® Door Prize, Norene Switzer. Men‘s High, Ken Judge; Men‘s Lone Hands, Allan Sims; Men‘s Low, David Arthur; Men‘s Door Prize. Andy Kittmer. The next Euchre Party will be Oct. 23 same place, same time. ° Retirement presentations were made to Ilene Chesterman, FEWIO board member; Anne Innes, president for London Area; and Katherine McNaughton, Western Fair. The convention was declared closed. The flags retired folâ€" lowed by the Royal Anthem. The Marian Pardy scholarship for London Area was presented to Samantha Klaver and the Dorothy Futcher scholarship for southern _ region _ winner Catherine Wallis was announced. The West Elgin Choral Society, directed by John Holland, enterâ€" tained with many familiar numâ€" bers. The evening banquet comâ€" menced with the head table being piped in followed by the institute grace and a toast to WI. A delicious beef dinner was enjoyed. Marlene Archer will be London area nominee for the provincial board of directors for the southern region. Oxford District gave the courâ€" tesies and an invitation for 2009 convention to be held in Oxford on Oct. 15; § We are all the way to December which we will be celebrating with Browns Women‘s Institute, meeting at the Brown‘s School at 6:30 p.m. for supper. The speaker for the evening is Grant and Anne Innes, speaking and showing pictures of their trip toâ€"the Holy Land. Roll Call is a nonâ€"perishable food _ item for the St. Marys‘ Food Bank. LONDON AREA FWIO CONVENTION Catherine Wallis was the recipient of the South Region FEWIO Dorothy Fulcher Scholarship. She was the entry from the Perth South District and is attending Guelph University.
