The March meeting of Cheltenham Women‘s Institute __â€" was held in the Sunday School Room of the Baptist Church on ( ) Wednesday,March 19th,when members,former members and friends / / _ gathered to celebrate the lj2nd anniversary of the Cheltenâ€" â€"ham Women‘s Institute.The Sunday School room was tastfully decorated with green and white streamers,.pots of Shamrocks * and baskets of daffodils and sweet peas.The tea table was set with a lovely lace cloth,candles and daffodils and centred with a three storey cake beautifully iced in white and green. After greetings were exchanged the President Mrs. _ W,B,.Mountain took the chair,.The Opening Ode was sung followed by the Lord‘s Prayer.O0ne item of business was brought before the meeting,the appointing of a nominating committee to select Offlcers for the coming year,lit was moved by Mrs.H.Taylor, seconded by Mrs.W.Wilkinson that Mrs.Hugh Henry and Mrs.Claude Kennedy act as the nominating committeeâ€"carried. : Mrs,Mountain welcomed the guests and expressed her pleasure at having so many present.She reviewed the story of the founding of the Women‘s Institute by Mrs.Hoodless at Stoney Creek,and said we must never forget the great influence we have on our rural communittees,we have a magnificent struâ€" â€"cture for human service,we must hold fast to all that we have gained,but look forward to the future. We listened with pleasure to the following numbers arranged for our entertainment,Instrumental,Kathleen McDonald, Readingâ€"Mrs.Fred Sharpe,two vocal numbers by Mrs.P.Thomas, Humorous readingâ€"Miss Alfred Haines, The President then went back to the time the 25th, Anniversary was celebrated and called on Mrs.W.Williams forâ€" â€"merly Miss Elizabeth Campbell,who was secretary at that time to read the minutes of that meeting July 1930.Mrs.Wilbert Wilkinson president at that time,spoke ,wishing the Institute continued sucess.Mrs.Parker,Mrs.Watts and Mrs.Segsworth all past Presidents expressed their pleasure at being present. Mrs.W.EH,.Wilkinson the only one present who attended the meetâ€" â€"ing in 1905 when the Institute organized,told of that meeting Mrs.Herbert Taylor gave the History,she had preparâ€" \ â€"ed from available record,she gave the names of all the Past ( | Presidents and told of the many activities carried out throuâ€" j â€"gh the years.The singing of God Save the King concluded this part of the program. Mrs.Janet Sinciair and Mrs.W.H.Wilkinson poured tea,and a dainty lunch was served, The cake was cut by Mrs.H.Taylor,and a social hour spent.
