r C . ONTARIO DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE WOMEN‘S INSTUTES ‘ e e Summer Series of Meetings ANNOUNCEMENT OF SUPERINTENDENT 1â€"9â€"3â€"0 * Eleven hundred and fifty Branch Institutes throughout the province are coâ€"operation with the Department of Agriculture in planning for the 784 meetings announced herein. In some communities two or more branches are holding a joint meeting. The Institutes Branch provides a lecturer thoroughly ; familiar with Institute aims, programmes and methods for each meeting, the . local branch furnishes entertainment, and the district organization provides transportation; another example of the sharing of responsibility which has > been an important factor in the extension and development of the work. The officers are asked to make it known that all women and girls (sixteen or over) will be welcome to attend the meetings, for which there is no charge. Do not forget that government service is for the whole people, not the members of the Women‘s Institute only; so see that your invitations are general and | genuinely friendly. New Institutes have been formed at 20 centres since the first of January. with the prospect of many additional branches being organized during the coming months. s Arrangements have been made to continue instruction in Household f Science Judging, and in most counties this will be followed by a county comâ€" petition. The instruction will cover Nutrition, including school lunches and menus for the preâ€"school child. In House Furnishing, farm living rooms and â€" kitchen plans will be dealt with; and under clothing, suitable costumes for ~ semiâ€"formal occasions and the country girls‘ wardrobe will be dealt with. The Institute officers and members are asked to encourage the girls to take advantage of this instruction. The senior members of the Institute and others interested will be made welcome at the coaching classes, but only those under 26 years of age will be allowed to enter the competitions. If you desire this form of instruction for your community, please notify your Agricultural Representative of the number of girls in your locality who would take advantage of the twoâ€"day class in coaching. INFORMATION FOR DISTRICT OFFICERS The district officers will be required to arrange for the transportation of the speaker throughout the riding and to finance the same. The branch officers should coâ€"operate in planning for transportation, and this can often be arranged through the kindness of members and friends of the Institute withâ€" out expense to the district Institute. In some counties it is usual for one of the district officers to accompany the departmental delegate. The district secretary should notify the delegate as to plans made for transportation, especially how to reach the first place of meeting in the disâ€" j i trict. She should also send the delegate copy of announcement of meetings. It is requested that wherever possible the delegate be taken to the next . place of meeting in the evening, or early the next day, thus giving her an opportunity to consult with the officers and members regarding the local branch before the meeting is held.
