The September meeting of the Lakeside Women's Institute was held in the Orange Hall on Wednesday, Sept. 4th at 2 p.m. with the president'Mrs. Allin Stewart presiding. The meet. ing opened with the Ode and O Canada and repeating the Mary Stewart Collect in unison. The roll call, "What I would do if I was on the Township Council" was answered by 23 members. Plans were made for leaders to attend the short course "Baking with Yeast". Mrs. Jared Vining and Mrs. Fred Risdon will act as leaders from Lakeside. Members were reminded of the Fall Board meeting to be held in the town. ship hall at Hickson early in October. Mrs. Leman Harris reported on the bus trip which the members and friends en. joyed in late August. Mrs. Lloyd Kittmer was convener for the program on Citizenship and opened the program with the Hymn of All Nations with Mrs, Frank McLeod at the piano. From the West End branch of the Guelph area, well known for its exotic headgear, they conducted an impassioned plea for Votes for Women; but their piéce de resistance was "Where did you get that hot?" I. held the April meeting in the Orange Hall on Wednesday in the form of a pot luck dinner at 12.30 p.m. with the nominating com- mittee in charge. Twenty-three members sat down to dinner. Following dinner Mrs. Willis Ball presided, and opened the meeting with the Ode and re- peating the Mary Stewart Col- lect in unison. The roll call was answered by the payment of fees. Mrs. Jared Vining re- ported on Summary Day for course of "Hats For You." Fit- teen members participated in the course and remembered the leaders Mrs. Jared Vining and Mrs. Robert Holden with a small gift. A sing-song was led by Mrs. Roy McCorquodale. Mrs. Clarence Cole gave a reading and Mrs. Leman Harris favor- ed with a piano instrumental. Mrs. Ball received reports from the various officers and con- veners for 1967. The slate of officers for 1968 was presented by Mrs. Roy McCorquodale. Mrs. Geo. Re- freshments were served by the group in charge, Mesdames Lloyd Kittmer, Roy Sutherland, James Kittmer, Lindsay Taylor, Wm.
