Our artist was Mrs Harold Hollomby of Sidney South W.I. She was asked by the curator to decorate the cover with a painting to illustrate the Trent f River Valley. The resulting scene has been one to catch the admiration of all. With the eye ‘ of a true artist she has seen beauty in the simple scenery around her. We are proud of her \.ii ability to capture that beauty for us of stream and trees enhanced by nature‘s mantle of snow. Her story appears where all might learn to know her. Mrs Hollomby was born in Montreal on May‘lsth, 1911. Her maiden name was Dora Ethel~Pearges= iShelrecgived her education in a public school in MOntrealvand later attended a High School for Girls in the same city. Her first job was that of office girl at the Family Herald and Weekly star and while there she attended night school and studied shorthand and typing. She then worked as a stenographer until she was married in 1934 to Harold William Hollomby «who died December 221nd 1955. In February 1956 she started working for Dr. C.H. Austin Walters és secretary and receptionist.. For a time Mr. & Mrs Hollomby lived on the 2nd Concession of Sidney Township. While there the Sidney South branch of the Women‘s Institute was organized and Mrs Hollomby became the first president. Since the death of her husband, Mrs Hollomby has moved in to the city of Belleville, but she still retains her membership in the Sideny South W.I. and is an active worker in that organization. Her duties at the Doctor‘s office prevents her active participation in the weekly group meetings of Christ Anglican church of which she is a member.She had previously worked in the W.A. of the church & wis n aotove vorker in ha WiA. ¥£ Ane chexgh and was an active worker in the Home and School Association. Mrs Hollomby has a stepson Kenneth HaPold Hollomby living in Montreal and a daughter Doreen, | | who is married to Anthony (Tony) Pearce (no relation to her family) They will be moving to Ottawa { in July of 1965.
