Vieckrucikt's Home , of Ontario, was organized on June 16, 1949 at the home of Mrs, N. Vickruck, Grandview, Nipigon Highway. The presiding District Officers were: . District President -- Mrs. J. Booth District Secretary--treasurer -- Mrs. J., Cooper Federated Representative -- Mrs. R., G., Purcell From March 24, 1949, a group of women had been meeting monthly with the idea of banding together into a club to work for the good of the Community. After discussing and ° studying the pros and cons, it was moved by Mrs. A.A. Anderson and seconded by Mrs., F. Watty, that we be organized as a Women's Institute Branch. Carried. : Being situated in the township of McGregor, it was moved by Mrs., G. Colyer and seconded by Mrs., W. McGill that we be known as the McGregor Women's Institute. Carried. Our Motto was FOR HOME AND COUNTRY and our aim was to study and work together to raise the standard of homemaking to the highest possible level. We would strive to take a greater interest in the life of our community and by serving others become happier and more useful citizens . @ O
