22-- 1O Sam Avery Sr. Sam Avery Sr. was born on July 1818 in the Parish of Pelentslow (Merton) in the County of Devonshire, England. The Parish contains the seal or home of Lord Clinton. He married Mary Folland and they lived in the little village of Meath, Devonshire, England. Their children were: Elizabeth (Mrs. Albert Isard) 1840 -- 1918 Samuel Jr. -- December 4, 1842 --September 10, 1917 Mary -- 1846 -- 1901 ------Mary married George Redmill ) a cook on a boat) . She died with breast cancer and is buried in Kincardine. Mrs. Sam (Mary) Avery died in 1846 at childbirth and is buried in Meath, Devonshire, England. Sam Sr. and the 3 children came to Canada with Mrs. Essery (his wife's sister) and first settled near Exeter. Sam and his 2 daughters came to Kincardine Township and settled on Lots 17 and 18, Concession 3 S.D.R. commonly known as the South Line. He married Harriet Gill who already had a daughter. Their family was: Harriet Ann -- 1856 -- 1873 . Hannah M.-- 1858 -- 1890 Hannah married Joe Bole and had a son, William. He died in Kincardine and was buried in Petrolia, ON. Hannah is buried in Petrolia and Joe Bole is buried in Calgary. George -- 1860 -- 1914 George married Jennie Hocken and lived on Lots 35, 36, 37, Concession 2, S.D.R. Kincardine Township. Their children were Naylor, Maude, Mabel, Lizzie. He moved to Kincardine and then to Vancouver where he died of heart failure. Sarah Grace -- 1864 -- 1935 Sarah married James Glass in 1882. Their children were: Howard, Lottie, and Ruth. They lived on Concession 3, S.D.R. , Kincardine Township and retired to a house in Kinloss. Sarah died of breast cancer. Sam Avery, Sr. died on October 6, 1882 while living on the South Lie. The funeral was held from his late residence on Sunday, October 7, 1882 at 2 p.m.
