ADELAIDE HUNTER HOODLESS Adelaide Hunter Hoodless was born February 27th, 1857, in Brant County, the youngest in a family of twelve children. She was married to David Hunter on September 15th,1881. 'J;hey settled near St. George and bought a simple clapboard house later known as "The Homestead on the Blue Lake Road." When her son, Harold, died she was stirred to work for the "education of mothers, a special attention to sanitation and a better understanding of food values". Thus the Women's Institute was organized and Domestic Sciences were started. She died February 28th, 1910, while speaking in Toronto.
