Outerbridge. , 1971. - 75 1 3975 - 76 PRESIDENT Mrs. Graham Cook a At the March, 2974 meeting a letter of protest concerning the lack of' information on advance polling, voting by 1 proxy, and information necessary for those opposing the liquor vote, was signed by twenty five members of the Institute and sent to Prime Minister Davis, members of his cabinet and to Murray Gaunt, our sitting member. The District Annual Meeting and Dinner was held in Ripley on May 21, 1971.. At the Dec., 197d meeting a donation of! 3100.00 was given to the new Medical Centre Bldg. Card parties were held regularly on alternate Monday nights at this time. l ft the April, 1976 meeting we donated $10.00 to the Bruce; county Ploughing Match. (International). I At the November, 1975 meeting Donalda McLean reported $1.82 hed been collected for the Blind. I 1976 - 77 i, 1977 - 78 PRESIDENT Mrs. Ross Cumming 1 A t our May meeting, 1976, Mrs. Ross Martyn reported the Legion Hall needed a new piano. A commi ttee was appointed ( namely: Mrs. R. Martyn, Mrs. D. Blue and Mrs. F.- Gemmell, to look into this. At the September 3rd meeting we 5 paid our share for a new piano for the Legion Hall which was $143.00.. Actually they secured a second hand piano. Our March 1976 canvass for the Cancer Fund brought in $482.00. . ' After our Christmas Pot-1uek luncheon on Dec. 3, 1976, Mrs. Lock auctioned a sale of articles trought in by the 1 members, which net $32.00. 1 Jan. 7 1977, we held e morning meeting at the home of! Mrs. Nick Pest, which started off with a coffee party at 10:00 A. M. It was the Curator's meeting and she had Mrs. G. Sutherland tell about her trip in 1976 to the North west Territories, Alaska, Yukon, Whitehorse and British Columbia. She And Mrs. Ralph Elliott hed a very interesting trip, which made it easy for us to share her enthusiasm. The book was on display (the history book) i, It was moved at the March meeting to have the meetings in the members homes for the coming year. l At the June 3, 1977 meeting Mrs. John Gamble who was in charge of the sale of tickets for the quilt made by the " Institute, reported a sum of $293.25. Mrs. Gamble and Mrs. Ken MacDonald took the Institute course on "Quilting" ', They worked very hard on this quilt, along with other willing helpers, and came up with a very fine looking ', quilt. _ Pt the March, 1977 meeting it was voted to discontinue the card parties for this year. It was decided that we , try holding our meetings in the homes. Mrs Lockereported having been contacted by the members interested in the upkeep of the Township Hall, regarding _;-', raw curtains. The Institute donated the curtains hanging in the Hall in 1938, and after some discussion it 1 was moved and seconded that Mrs. Lock and Mrs. F. Gemmell be appointed to look into this project. It turned out . ", that different local organizations were willing to help with this project, but The Ripley Women's Institute ("' 'n,,etjtC1',h'": they would like to take on the project and replace the curtains. The above mentioned sum on the sale of tickets on the quilt together with $541.97 taken 1 (ttit from the funds financed the new Township Hall curtains, and the thanks of' all our members were expressed to all y .4", who worked so diligently on these projects. _ Following our very successful Hospital tee. held in June a cheque was mailed to the Kincardine Hospital Auxiliary " for "139.00- This money was used to buy a T.
