This is one of Prince Edward District W.I. Millennium projects. Located at Rossmore on Hwy.62 south of Norris Whitney Bridge over Bay of Quinte & south of city of Belleville. This location is one of four entrances into Prince Edward County. As our world entered the year 2000 Prince Edward District Women's Institute set a goal of increasing the visibility of this organization within our County. They wanted to tell local residents that W.I. not only exists, but is a great contributor to the fabric of our community. As part of this initiative it was decided that a sign with the distinctive logo of the Women's Institute should be placed at each of the four entrances to Prince Edward County. The County may be accessed at Hwy.33 Carrying Place, Hwy. 49 Skyway Bridge, Glenora Ferry Hwy.33 and Hwy. 62 from Belleville. Other fraternal organizations and service clubs heard of the project & sought to join with the W.I. Joyce Brown member of Hillier W.I. became convener of this project. Along with the help of community the required clearances & approvals were obtained. The signboards were completed & erected. The one sign shown in this photo was erected along Hwy.62 south of the Norris Whitney Bridge over Bay of Quinte in the hamlet of Rossmore. Through the co-operative efforts of many this sign shows that Prince Edward District Women's Institute is part of a vibrant community of very involved people.
