Description
Think outside the box- that’s what team Carry-On Fab Four did as they approached a table filled with Lego pieces and a tote with thousands more. Four minds had to quickly abort the idea of making the W.I. Logo unless we wanted to make it square, what a shame, zillions of these little pieces yet circular builds are not in the Lego program. Somebody absently picked up a small rose and the theme was born - a number of women sitting around the boardroom table designing a Rose activity for the summer. Hands were buried in the bucket and up came “little people” Certainly helped to have a granddaughter there to assist arthritic fingers to snap pieces together. What colour will we make the table? Here’s some blue, let’s make it W.I. Colours, go with a blue top and a yellow pedestal leg. “ Now get those tiny ladies sitting on chairs around the table.” “ And let’s get hats for them - they are fashionable W.I. Buddies.” After several minutes of construction, we stood back to view our creation. Little small, but that’s the size of the Lego pieces. “Oops, needs a little something to explain what they are doing”. Out came the Homeand Country Rose Garden magazines. “ Hey, here’s a perfect title “ Rose Buddies”, let’s cut that out and tape it to the front.” (giggles) “Nope that’s way too big. It’s half the size of the table”. “ Lynda go scan and reduce it”. “Girls we need a picture with us in it”. First shot- “Well that’s no good, all you see is us, and the legos disappear”. More giggling. “ We need a W.I. Sign” A couple of decorsigns were produced and were placed in a dozen different positions but none worked for the picture. Finally we decided on the metal very old W.I. sign. ……….next picture - the sign overpowered the legos so it has to be moved back. Can you imagine, just to get depth of field, how many different arrangements and locations the set was moved to? We stood, we kneeled, we sat, we did everything imaginable in order to get all incrementsinto view and still have the Lego rose table front row centre. And every time the board(floor) was moved the ladies fell off their chairs, and some lost their hats.( By now the FabFour were nearly screaming with laughter). It was a scavenger hunt just to get the proper pieces back, find the right placement, move everybody and everything around, and then have a teenager practically lie on her stomach in order to take a picture with the correct perspective!
