Name of our Creation and Story
We Are One
No matter who you are, no matter what your colour or creed, we are all One in this world.
We chose our Lego map of Ontario because to us it represents W.I. Why? It is a milestone anniversary this year of W.I.
A yellowed newspaper clipping from Arnprior McNab/Braeside Archives posted on face book states "since 1897 more than 2000 W.I. branches have existed across Ontario. W.I. was founded to share knowledge for the benefit of rural women". This education continues today in many forms with helping hands around the world through FWIO[founded in 1919] and ACWW [in 70 countries].
Our map of greens for lands, forests and blue for water shows our resources available for sharing and trade.
Branches are the grassroots of W.I. Our branch is a very tiny dot in Ontario, just like our Ontario map shows it is a small dot on the world globe. We are one province contributing to the world. Wow!
Our many projects, clean water for all, sleeping children around the world, recycling, helping in crisis in our own communities and abroad, still educating and advocating for women's rights and health, just to name a few.
These projects and many more are carried out because: Women Involved, Women Interested, Women Inspired can accomplish so much locally at home, in our country and the world.
So yes the Lucky Lilies team feel that our province of Ontario represents W.I. without a doubt.
