OLD MACDONALD HAD A FARM

The Lunch Bunch Hunters foursome enjoyed this project to demonstrate their artistic skills in a critic free environment.
Once we had decided on a theme, we had fun looking on our phones for pictures of our animals which we could identify but sure didn’t know how to paint.
We quickly chose four flat stones which were relatively similar in size.
Team captain Norma, was hostess and had a good selection of water-based paints, state- of- the- art brushes, paper towels, plastic lids for palettes and water.
Laura painted a large fluffy ewe to give to her daughter who raises sheep. Colleen’s family followed in her parents footsteps and raises over 500 ewes. They sell breeding stock and meat lambs as well as wool. Laura placed Colleen’s rock on a bench beside the door and she found it as she was saying goodbye. She had a chuckle while reading the inscription “Hi EWE”. The hope is that this rock will bring a smile to her face each time she reads “Hi EWE”.
Mary painted a curious pink pig which is out for a walk and looking for vegetables. She gave her rock to her granddaughter, Adreana, who lives next door, enjoys gardening and is the only grandchild living away from home. Mary placed her rock in Adreana’s vegetable garden. Adreana has vegetables to feed this little pig and will leave it where her Oma put it.
Norma painted a tractor, chicken and Aryshire cow for her daughter, Karen. "She has been a very good friend to me and an amazing support to Bill and to me after his sad passing in November, suffering from dementia. I thought I would thank her in another small way with this painted rock. She raises chickens and Aryshire milk cattle and so it seems fitting that that is what I have painted on this rock and so it should go to her." Norma will also paint a rock for her other two daughters.
Helen painted a large Holstein cow which seems rather bloated and needs help from the vet. She gave this rock to her two grandchildren that found her rock when they were picking stones on their farm. She placed the rock in a visible location in the flowerbed beside their lane. Justin saw it on Monday and Mikayla saw it as she walked up the lane on Tuesday. Their family all proudly work hard with their “Mapleley Holstein” dairy herd. The rock is colourful and meaningful and will remain as placed for the summer.
As usual, the Lunch Bunch Hunters finished their project with a delicious lunch which was shared with their photographer.
This was another interesting mission—new to some of us. We look forward to our next assignment.
