- Colpoy’s Women’s Institute WISH Team Submission
Leaving no stone unturned, our team conjured up several ideas for a theme. We merged the ideas together and came up with our theme “Be the best version of yourself”. So off we went in search for our perfect rocks. Not a problem for Colpoy’s MIST as we have easy access to rock beaches of Colpoy’s Bay. Thinking about how our theme could connect to the WI, the line in the Mary Stewart collect “Let us not forget to be kind” started us on our path. We each created our BEE rock.
BEE Kind
Anticipating a short visit from my daughter, I took my “special painted rock” down to our water-side Bunkie. There, I tucked it under the quilt, and leaned it again her pillow. How surprised and pleased she was to find this little treasure awaiting her. The painted stone now resides in her front garden for all to see and consider its message – bee kind.
BEE Content
I placed the painted rock at the entrance to my own bee yard for our son to discover. In his twenties, life is just opening up for him; there is much comparison to where life should be versus where it is currently. He is an amazing young man, with a very full life and I wanted to encourage him to be grateful and happy with how well his life is going.
On Father’s Day we ventured out to check on my bees together. His delight upon noticing the rock and reading the “Bee Content” inscription; “bee content” was obvious. He expressed his appreciation and took the rock home with him to place at his front door for everyone to see.
I'm grateful for the nudge that the Scavenger Hunt offered to be able to do this.
BEE Adventurous rock was given to a cottage neighbour who has been travelling a great deal in her job. I’m sure she will BEE surprised when she arrives this weekend and notices the rock. We all need to add some adventure into our lives and painting rocks counts.
BEE Silly
We were visiting our daughter, her partner and our 1 yr old grandson at Bluewater Park where they were camping. I'd placed the rock amongst some stones for him to find. Of course, the wee toddler noticed the rock with the painted bee on it in a flash! After trying, unsuccessfully, to pick the bee off and putting it in his mouth to taste he gently patted the rock. Such a special little treasure for him to take home and a reminder you're never too old to bee silly!
In the end, we decided to be adventurous and silly for our picture!!
What will you do to BEE the best version of yourself?
