Hi Ho, It's Off to Cosies We Go!
The Fairfield Wily Investigators chose Cosies British Tearoom and Cafe in Brockville for our get-together for WISH Clue #4. It's a quaint, quirky cafe offering a wide selection of tea and other beverages plus a variety of scones with strawberry preserves and clotted cream, all made on the premises.
Teapots line the shelving, tea and coffee are served in china cups and saucers, and you can share a pot of tea or have one just for yourself. On the wall in front of the loo are bunting flags and framed photos of old British television shows.
It is the perfect place for couples and small groups to meet for a cuppa. Keeping that in mind, we decided it was a better option to invite a non-WI member to join us than to hope to engage a stranger through a random act of kindness. And as it happened, Karen, the mother of Lindsay, our non-WI WISH team member, was visiting from Listowel, Ontario. This seemed like a perfect way to get to know Lindsay and Karen and share all our WISH adventures.
Karen thought she was going to be canning that morning. It was a nice surprise to end up at Cosies instead, chatting, drinking and indulging in scones while immersed in that English setting. We shared news about our busy summers with gardens, canning and family fun. And at the end, we gave Karen the WI bookmark, which she assured us she would enjoy using.
